Please beware of adverts claiming to submit your site to anything up to 2,000 search engines - in reality there are very few that really matter and will actually bring you traffic (in fact there are 27!). |

Linking to other sites is good practice and obtaining links from other sites to your own website is often hard work but ultimately rewarding - bringing traffic to your site and boosting your rankings in search engines. |

A number of directories (e.g. Yahoo) require payment for inclusion. Unless your site is aimed at generating revenue x2cms advise you to think carefully if the benefit of inclusion is worth the fees involved. |

A number of prominent search engines offer advertising opportunities including Google, Yahoo, Looksmart, Kanoodle etc. This is usually offered on a pay per click basis where you only pay for actual visitors to your site. |
